Little fire
/ˈeɪ.dən/
A modern respelling of Aiden / Aidan, from the Irish Aodhán, 'little fire' (from Aodh, the fire god).
Ayden is one of the modern American respellings of Aiden, which comes from the Irish Aodhán, 'little fire,' a diminutive of the old fire-god name Aodh. It rode the enormous Aiden / Jayden / Brayden rhyming wave of the 2000s and 2010s, when the -ayden ending was everywhere. Same fire root as the traditional Aidan, just a different look.
peaked at #68 in 2012, currently #257 in 2025.
